i had to stop today… had some songs playin on the computer… just a bunch of somethings i’ve put in a lil playlist… and was workin on the freecell quest before callin er a night. and you know who you can have music playing in the background and you’re not really listening to it, but rather just hearing it? well, that was the case… then, gloria estefan’s “i see your smile” came on. something made me pay attention to that song - and the eyes glazed over and i was back in high school, life was so very simple. i didn’t have a mortgage, a ‘real’ job, i walked the halls as a king in my letterman jacket, i was surrounded by many friends… ain’t it funny, that none of those ‘friends’ will ever read this. funny or sad, i’m not sure which.

a bit of coincidence that today i went to the dentist for the first time in 3 years (but the teeths were beautiful, for those who wonder) and one of the dental assistants is a mom of one of my many acquaintences in high school. a good guy who’s now leading a youth ministry program at a church in da’ grove. he’s now married and has two kids. as are a great many of the acquaintences i had in high school… most of which i haven’t heard from in almost 9 years.

in an interesting aside, it’s been almost 4 years since i’ve graduated from college. of the many friends and acquaintences i made in college - a greater percentage of those i would still consider friends of mine. and i’ve known them all for not nearly as long. now, it’s possible i’m a rare case as i went to a college where not a lot of people from my high school went or go - but something makes me think i’m not so rare a case at the same time.

funny a fairly deep post here and it was all brought about because of a song. behold the power of cheese… er, i mean music.
