i’m not sure going back and doing some of the first month workouts was such a good idea… i thought they’d be a lot easier… and all that has happened so far has been me remembering the exercises that i’d loathed for an entire month and had conveniently forgotten about (i.e. mummy kicks and mountain climbers). either i’m in better shape and able to push myself or the last month has been a HUGE setback. there are two weeks left for me, and a fit test on monday to kick off the final stretch, so that will be the final answer for that question. as for catch up week, i got two workouts in from the first month. and we’ll get back into the swing of things on monday – back into the Max workouts following the fit test.
after yesterday’s workout, my calves and feet were just achin’. needless to say, this workout didn’t help that situation too much. the calves are still tighter than spandex on a fat guy. but as i’v always said, it sure feels good to break into that dripping sweat and be all done with a solid workout.

“If yesterday’s workout was tough, you haven’t done anything today”

we had it printed on USD Track tshirts back in the day
no, your eyes are not deceiving you. i finally got my fat @$$ out of bed in the morning and got a workout in. instead of jumping back into the Max workouts and pretty much dying, i figured it would be a good idea to catch up on some of the first month workouts that i missed back in april and may. so filling in the gap i left in the first week, i got the Cardio Power and Resistance workout done from Day 3. with the thought of tomorrow doing the Plyometric Cardio Circuit from day 10. and because i’ve not done much of anything the last couple weeks, this kicked my butt! doing power squats in the warmup was tough, my knees weren’t fully warmed up until the 2nd round of warmups. this workout wasn’t as bad as i remembered – those Max workouts definitely put these workouts into perspective. fit test on monday… that should be interesting.

this morning i just wasn’t in it… with the upcoming holiday weekend, i was up late last night making some pasta salads, plus the mentality of all around me (coworkers have already checked out for the long weekend, K is done with her classes for a couple months – so she’s finally starting to relax a bit, etc.) added to the fact that i’m still sore as H-E-double hockey sticks! physically, i think today was a better workout – i slowed down, worked the form a little harder and pushed myself to last longer through each exercise. mentally, like i said, just wasn’t all there. time to focus through the day (somehow).
i’m going to be up at the family cabin this weekend (leaving tonight) for the 4th of July holiday, so i’m not going to be able to do tomorrow’s workout (Max Interval Sports Training) – but i’ll make sure i get some physical exercise in over the weekend. PLUS, my family is going to be a part of the holiday parade in Ashland, WI. i’m fairly sure that will require a fair amount of walking
and monday is the 4th fit test… this one will be interesting, for sure!
Insanity – Day 47: complete!
inspirational quote of the day:
“”To me, there are three things we all should do every day. We should do this every day of our lives. Number one is laugh. You should laugh every day. Number two is think. You should spend some time in thought. And number three is, you should have your emotions moved to tears, could be happiness or joy. But think about it. If you laugh, you think, and you cry, that’s a full day. That’s a heck of a day. You do that seven days a week, you’re going to have something special.”

final day for Jimmy V quote week… a very inspirational individual. R.I.P. Jimmy
