got an email today (one of those blasted forwards) explaining the adjustments Sheriff Joe Arpaio had made once he was elected in Maricopa County (AZ). i had to check it out on snopes as i do any forward i get like that… and turns out there’s truth to this… I think this country and world need more common sense type people like Sheriff Joe, especially in higher office positions…

Maricopa County was spending approx. $18 million dollars a year on stray animals, like cats and dogs. Sheriff Joe offered to take the department over, and the County Supervisors said okay. The animal shelters are now all staffed and operated by prisoners. They feed and care for the strays. Every animal in his care is taken out and walked twice daily. He now has prisoners who are experts in animal nutrition and behavior. They give great classes for anyone who’d like to adopt an animal. He has literally taken stray dogs off the street, given them to the care of prisoners, and had them place in dog shows. The best part? His budget for the entire department is now under $3 million. Teresa and I adopted a Weimaraner from a Maricopa County shelter two years ago. He was neutered, and current on all shots, in great health, and even had a microchip inserted the day we got him. Cost us $78.

a couple weeks ago, at church, a missionary from SIU came and spoke to us… he played this video… and it’s one of the most amazing videos i’ve seen in a while…

today was the visitation and funeral of the husband of a co-worker. she and i have worked on a rather large project at work (and are still working on it)… her husband died of a heart attack suddenly while hunting last weekend. i never really got to meet the guy, and after the ceremony - i’m very disappointed that i didn’t. i did a lot of thinking… this video popped into my head at some point throughout the rest of the day. (i didn’t even remember where i saw it first, but my lovely wife came to the rescue (yet again) after i’d found it on the interweb). i’ve seen a couple other versions of this same concept, but i’m a sucker for the ‘original’ (or at least the original to me). this video got to me when i first watched it, and it still gets to me and really makes me think about what i’m doing in this life… i’m very grateful for what God’s given me and sometimes i need to express my gratefulness more. like now, when said lovely wife is waiting for me to get to bed, so without further ado… this very most excellent, Everything by Lifehouse video/skit…

so i just am learning now that what i did to get this site created and the methods i used are completely screwed up and ultimately bass-ackwards… i think in the future times, i’m going to have to redo my website, but not give it the cosmetic change (maybe i’ll clean a couple things up) - but definitely clean up how i designed the page. what this means to my reader is, i’m an idiot.

plus, i haven’t written anything for quite some time and that’s a shame, to the tens of people that read this, i’m in the mindset that i actually will make this website somewhat useful and give it some content (and maybe even fix the broken pieces). the problem is, i’m in the middle of two website development processes that might actually do something, whereas this is merely me, being a moron. so needless to say, this site probably won’t get too much attention, if need be, complain. i’ll understand, but won’t care.
