March 25th, 2006

so my cousin is in australia - he got me to sign up for this bebo thing, and it’s actually a bunch of fun times - puttin pictures out there n stuphs. good times. if you wanna see mine (it’s not that exciting, yet) http://llamaGod.bebo.com some of ya’s might’ve even gotten an invite from me - yay you! if you didn’t don’t feel bad, i just sented it to a couple few peeps.

check it, or check yo’self foo!

*i just noticed that the links in my flash splash were broken and have been for a loooong time. now, course, i can’t find my original flash files, but i was able to figure out a temporary workaround… cripes! no wonder there wasn’t anyone to look at this site much… at least that’s what we’ll tell ourselves won’t we?

we’ve done it to ourselves

March 23rd, 2006

not sure where this thought came from, but it came nonetheless. i was playing a few games of freecell, the quest is progressing and i was thinking about stupid people… and how there are way too many stupid people. and then i got to thinking about the olden days, olden even before i was around (i’ve heard stories). about the time when we went outside without helmets to go play in the yard, about the toys we used to play with that had sharp edges, about sockets without that stupid plastic cover. hey, we fell down, got hurt, scrapes and cuts - bled and bruised, but ya know what? we got back up, wiped away the tears and kept on playing after a period of time when it finally occurred to us that cryin wasn’t gettin us anywhere and that it really didn’t hurt that bad anyway. and you know what? after fallin down on the bike, we learned how to balance on two wheels.

what does this have to do with stupid people, you may ask… what DOESN’T it have to do with stupid people and the over population of stupid people on the planet today… if someone didn’t learn the first time that the gym set had sharp edges or if you ran out on the slippery ice or there was something else that, if not done correctly, would cause an individual pain - then that person would continue to get hurt until they corrected their behavior not do continue doing that activity that brought about the undesired effect. seems like common sense, don’t it? the idiot keeps doing it and getting hurt, the non-moron thinks, ‘hey, that doesn’t feel good, i’ll stop doing it’.

i’m not sure exactly when it started, but instead of letting kids learn these things on their own, parents over protected their, sometimes stupid, kids and the kids never learned. the parents made the kids wear helmets to cross the street or put plastic pads on the corners of gym sets or removed the gym sets altogether and made it not a requirement to have a gym class, cuz some people got hurt easily (gee, maybe they should’ve learned earlier in their life on their own how to not get hurt, but mommy cradled them too much). and all this snowballed and it got progressively worse and worse…

now, we’ve gone so far as to idiot-proof so many things (look at warning tags these days, are you kidding me? don’t use toaster in the shower. G.I.Joe parachute not suitable for real person) and made it almost impossible for stupid person to get it through their thick skulls that this activity isn’t advised to continue for one reason or another. and you know what? not only are stupid people living longer (cuz some of the activities that stupid people partook in just happened to kill them, [sarcasm]aaawwwww, poor stupid people[/sarcasm]), but now they’re reproducing stupid offspring and they’re not learning. in fact, they’re teaching stupid offspring how to continue to be stupid.

and all these stupid people are making life difficult for normal people, because now we’ve gotta establish stupid laws and rules. example: high school pole vaulters in minnesota MUST wear a helmet when vaulting. why? because stupid people vaulted wrong/incorrectly and/or didn’t do something correctly and killed themselves or got seriously hurt. (this is a stupid rule made by stupid people for a couple reasons, of which i won’t go into now perhaps another time) hey stupid person, learn how to vault correctly and you’ll be fine.

basically, what i’m getting at is stupid people tend to have stupid voices and these stupid voices are loud. what’s wrong with the world today? stupid people. with all the stupid rules, we’re allowing stupid people to flourish and reproduce and continue to be stupid. why don’t we away with stupid rules and let stupid people kill themselves off? go ahead and let em get hurt over and over again, until they finally learn, ‘hey, that’s not a good activity, perhaps i should stop seeing how long i can stare at the sun and find a better activity’ and ya know what? they might learn something, they might even find a way to contribute to society rather than continue to tear this great land to shreds. let them figure it out themselves, if they don’t figure it out… then they end up dying and that’s not a bad thing either - one less stupid person.

the funny part is, this wasn’t because i read or heard any particular story or article about a stupid people… it’s just a thought that popped into my head whilst playing freecell. i leave you now with a thought, how much gooder would the world be if everyone just had a little bit of common sense?

man, i hate stupid people.

she’s back

March 20th, 2006

yay! katie got back from belize LATE last night (i picked her up from the airport at midnight) and she was very excited to be back in the states. i have heard very little of her stories from the trip, but that’s cuz it was late - tonight we’re goin out for dinner (on a date, oooooohhhhhh) so i’m sure i’ll hear muches of stories.

oh, and sister called me to rub it in that she got to see brian regan last night. i haven’t heard from her as to how it was, but i’m sure it was spectacular and i’ll be hearing from her soonly with more rubbing of it in…

a pretty bad case of…

March 14th, 2006

the ‘just one mores’. oh, yeah, i’ve got a bad, bad case of em. you know, those famous second-to-last words. “just one more, and then i’m done” usually followed up with another “just one more”. before you know it it’s 5 in the morning and you’re barely able to keep your eyes open, yet you can’t pull yourself away from the tv because fight night round 3 is so captivating, okay fine, just one more game and then i’ll go to bed - just one more fight and then i’ll eat. just one more and i’ll go breathe. i’ve found myself saying that with freecell too. just one more game and i’ll go make dinner…

usually, katie does a really good job of snapping me out of the ‘just one mores’ - but she’s in belize and didn’t call me on the day she was supposed to (yesterday), so i haven’t gotten my ‘katie fix’ lately which sends me deeper into the ‘just one more’ haze. i’m sick, i tell ya, and my medicine is south, VERY south. open up the borders, no tango el medicin-o.

so, yeah, i miss her. she hasn’t been gone a week yet, but i miss her. the house is quite empty. it was fun for a while, but she should come back soon so i don’t sink into a deeper coma, ill with the ‘just one mores’… it’s a terrible, terrible disease.

been one of those ‘what the crap’ weeks

March 10th, 2006

this has been a very interesting week… first and foremost, katie is in belize. she left on my birthday. i drove her to the airport early in the am - she had a 7am flight, yeah, early (and all that after getting to bed at around 1 because someone waited til the last minute to pack everything up). we did go out on a date on tuesday (i think, cuz she had to do some last-minute shopping, but i digress). it was almost as good as our wonderful KFC by candlelight valentines day. our big date night usually consists of chipotle and coldstone for dessert. it’s scrumptious and not too spendy a great combination. after i dropped off the lovely lady at the airport in the morning, early, before sunlight, i worked and worked out and started my taxes (which was kinda retarded, cuz i was uber tired). but pretty much the entire day i was tired to the point of retardation. thursday i was still spent - but made some progress and finished the taxes. i was about to be excited to watch the office… but it was a re-run. how can they do this? i was talkin to my cousin (who moved to australia 3 weeks ago) on the computer and was all “dude, i gotta run, the office is on in 5″ and got all excited with a plate of corn dogs to see an episode i’d already seen (diversity day). poo. there’s always next week - i checkt the nbc website, it’s a new one YAY!

this weekend i’m gettin together with a couple guys i play football with. gonna do the bowling thing (haven’t done that in a while). should be a good time, usually, when i gets together with those peeps, it’s fun times.

a pretty crazy week. i got word from katie today in an email. she’s having a great time - they’re in the middle of jungle and she says it’s pretty darn cool (i prolly would think the same). tonight, i’m finalizing the taxes and doing laundry - how’s that for a friday night of fun?

a saddened day

many of you may or may not have heard, kirby puckett died today a result of a massive stroke suffered yesterday at his home in arizona.

i heard that he had the stroke this morning on my way to work on the radio - and then after work, i did not hear anything new until i got home and turned on the tv to check the local stations. that’s when i found out - via the news - he had passed. i was speechless and i started to get the goosebumps. growing up, i was a big twins fan. my first newspaper exposure (aside from the birth note) was me as an 8 year old. i was in st. paul visiting my dad or mom at work and i had crossed the street before the rest of my family (or after the rest of my family - either way, i was on one side of the street, they were on the other). and a reporter and a cameraman came up to me. they asked me what i thought of the twins in the world series, took my picture and got my name and where i lived - told me to check the newspaper the next day. i then rejoined my family and told them. the next day - there i was in the paper, picture and all with my quote - i wish i knew what i was quoted as saying (and of course i don’t have the paper with me, it’s at the ‘rents’ house). i was a fan of the twins and during those days it is very difficult to be a fan without paying attention to kirby puckett. his glove, his smile, his bat, his personality and, my mom’s favorite, his bubble-butt - oh, and that homerun in game 6 of the 1991 world series… priceless.

a great player, he will be missed.

two nights

March 2nd, 2006

last night when i got home after lifting - katie had a meeting and i was alone - so i played a lil online poker and won about $100 - yay me!

tonight, i worked a little later (check out teh new PF website) and was going to go for a run to get my fat@$$ into shape to some degree. but then i remembered that the office was on and was very excited. for some reason i thought that it was on at 730pm CST. however, i was sadly mistaken - and unable to watch more than 20 seconds of ‘deal or no deal’ (and how the crap is that show on for an hour??? an entire hour full of dumbness, amazing) i flipped around the multiple channels i have (but i’ve only got super basic cable, so not too many channels) and realized how stupid network programming has gotten. i was able to find the three amigos on one channel, so that helped. i then proceeded to watch ‘my name is earl’ - it was alright, not a good show like i was expecting (and as someone had suggested to me). in fact, most of that half-hour wondering if the salad i made two days ago will still be okay to eat tomorrow for lunch. the the office FINALLY came on. yaaaay!

oh, i hate commercials. until this episode, i was able to watch the entire show in a matter of 20 minutes, completely interrupted (save the times katie called me from elsewhere to do something, but even then a simple click of the pause would suffice). the commercials really ruined it for me - as they do most shows. i can’t watch movies anymore on the tele - the commercial breaks are usually much louder than the movie, they ruin key parts of movies by modifying it cuz you can’t say poo-poo nuts on tv and the pause is simply annoying.

so when did tv get so retarded? i’m really glad that i don’t watch too much of it, man, i’d be in a world of hurt then…

there’s something about awesome weekends

February 27th, 2006

that mondays don’t actually seem so bad. frid night rusty (my best man) and laurie (his wife), came up from des moines for the weekend. after a late start and a wrong turn they finally arrived late frid night, which actually worked out for the gooder - cuz i was making the famous ‘country pheasant’ and hadn’t realized we were short a couple key ingredients. i started with the cooking whilst katie went to get a couple groceries - rusty and laurie arrived and i gave them the tour of the house (since they’d not seen it) and katie showed up just after my dime tour. after a scrumptious dinner, we chatted and rusty and i got into the old tiger woods golf 2003 - it’s actually a pretty fun game, so fun in fact that as katie and laurie were chatting upstairs about who-knows-what (prolly wedding stuffs to some degree) until about 4 in the morning, rusty and i were playing TWG until about 5. don’t recall the last time i stayed up until 5 playing a game (or for any reason for that matter) - but at 5 it was bed time.

saturday started a little bit later (as one might assume). we had a nice breakfast and rusty and i loitered around playin more TWG while katie and laurie did some (unnecessary) shopping. i showed rusty the river falls basics (mostly for wedding day preparation, so he knew where the hotel was and whatnot). and we played more TWG and a quick game of cribbage (haven’t played that in a while either). and then we went out to eat - to famous daves BBQ and blues. that’s right bbq and blues. it’s a famous daves restaraunt, most like any other, however they have live music there pretty much every night. it just so happens that on that saturday night Ipso Facto, a local reggae band was playing. now, i was thinking to myself, where have i heard that before… and no, i wasn’t referring to any Latin derrived term, as i’m not too up on my latin. it soonly dawned upon me that there was a cat that i played football with when i played with the maulers a couple years ago who was in a band called ipso facto. i called a fellow teammate who might know such trivial fact, and sure enough. JuJu McFarlane was a former mauler and played in ipso facto. but he thought that they’d broken up or that JuJu was no longer involved. however, this happened to be a reunion of sorts. and a jolly good time it was. first song (after an extensive mic check and prep period), this old dude and lady get up and start dancing. old as in mid-to-late-40s and white as all get out. but they dance like older white people and don’t give a rats@$$ about it. it was awesome. later, more people joined them and it was a good-ole dance fest when we left to try to get some cold stone across the street before they closed at 11o’clock (at least that’s what the sign said). however, when we got out there at about 1040, the lights were off and katie was pissed. we ended up going to have a drink with her friend jill who lived in the area and calling it a night shortly after. sunday morning, rusty and laurie had to leave early as they had family on the way and a dave crouter (sp?) band concert to attend. after katie and i went to church and had a nice lil french toast breakfast… it was nap time for most of the day. after that weekend of late night, late nights it was well needed by us both.

a great weekend with great friends, does life get any better? sure it does, cuz there’s a new ‘the office’ on this thursday, no more olympics! does anyone have season two episode 3 or 4 of the BBC version? i’ve got all the rest of em, but those two seem to be more difficult to find…

Softly Softly Catchy Monkey

February 23rd, 2006

i had to stop the second episode of the BBC version of the office once i heard the phrase “softly softly catchy monkey”… this show is hilarious. and yes, lindsey, the brit slang can throw you a bit, but luckily, i used to work with some people from england, so the accent doesn’t completely throw me off… (i’ve been down that road before, try talkin on the tele across the big pond to a guy with an extremely thik accent, i’ve had more productive conversations)

i will continue to watch the office BBC and hopefully, this will serve a suitable replacement until NEXT thursday when FINALLY, a new one comes out… the american version did use quite a lot of the same jokes - but not all of them, so it’s still worth watching…

unfortunately, the BBC version ran only 2 seasons of 6 episodes, plus a two-part christmas special…

the fit for Jim matching Tim is uncanny, mad props go to John Krasinski for the almost verbatim monologue in the first episode). i thoroughly enjoy steve carell in all he has done, but david (ricky gervais) is very good too - what’s with the tie adjustments (course, if i had to wear a tie, i’d prolly play with it all day long too). pam is about 80billion times hotter than dawn. and dwight is a much gooder loser-suckup than gareth, although gareth’s got that crack-whore, piss-ant, brit-scrawn-boy thing that would prolly have worked gooder had i seen the BBC version first.

whoa, i didn’t expect the side-by-side comparison to come out so soon.. and there’s a lot more hyphenated words in this post than usual… time to go finish watching episode two of the BBC version…

…so has anyone got the right time?… HA!

the power of music

February 22nd, 2006

i had to stop today… had some songs playin on the computer… just a bunch of somethings i’ve put in a lil playlist… and was workin on the freecell quest before callin er a night. and you know who you can have music playing in the background and you’re not really listening to it, but rather just hearing it? well, that was the case… then, gloria estefan’s “i see your smile” came on. something made me pay attention to that song - and the eyes glazed over and i was back in high school, life was so very simple. i didn’t have a mortgage, a ‘real’ job, i walked the halls as a king in my letterman jacket, i was surrounded by many friends… ain’t it funny, that none of those ‘friends’ will ever read this. funny or sad, i’m not sure which.

a bit of coincidence that today i went to the dentist for the first time in 3 years (but the teeths were beautiful, for those who wonder) and one of the dental assistants is a mom of one of my many acquaintences in high school. a good guy who’s now leading a youth ministry program at a church in da’ grove. he’s now married and has two kids. as are a great many of the acquaintences i had in high school… most of which i haven’t heard from in almost 9 years.

in an interesting aside, it’s been almost 4 years since i’ve graduated from college. of the many friends and acquaintences i made in college - a greater percentage of those i would still consider friends of mine. and i’ve known them all for not nearly as long. now, it’s possible i’m a rare case as i went to a college where not a lot of people from my high school went or go - but something makes me think i’m not so rare a case at the same time.

funny a fairly deep post here and it was all brought about because of a song. behold the power of cheese… er, i mean music.
